I sometimes feel the same and would like to share my story.

Ten years ago, I was active in a famous forum and I posted my fiction there. I didn’t think of monetizing, I just wanted someone to read it and the process was joyful. Slowly I was building my fan base and one day a publication asked if I wanted to publish my book, and since then everything changed.

I started to care more about readers, and they opinion affects my story flow and it becomes less enjoyable. It’s great if we can earn money from writing but I believe we must remember how happy we were when we were only doing this as a hobby.
