Who doesn’t love motivational quotes?

I, for example, have followed a handful of world-class inspirational speakers on Instagram. The first thing I do in the morning is to browse their stories — Those stories usually are motivational quotes with their picture attached to it. Reading them makes me feel spiritually uplifted, and I feel like I can take up all kinds of challenges for the rest of the day.

Motivational quotes are powerful. I mean, if you had a bad day and your friends are not nearby, reading these quotes could fix your mood right away. They remind you to be persistent, keep giving your best and embrace failure, and what’s even better? Those sentences are spoken by the ones that have achieved greatness.

It just feels like these successful people are by your side. If you keep calm and carry on, one day you will achieve success as they do.

They are steroids for emotions, a quick fix that gives you instant gratification, reinforcement, or distraction from distress.

I love them, but at the same time, I hate them.

Although personal development is one of my chosen writing niches, I have never shared a single motivation quote, nor make up a few and bombard them in social media (Even that might be one of the best things to do to attract traffic). I…
