You Shouldn’t Read Too Many Books

Reading is one of the best habits you can ever develop. There is no doubt about that.

The author condensed his or her life experience or knowledge into a book, and you can learn from the experts just by reading it. You should read often if you want to become successful, and if that’s not convincing enough, Bill Gates read 50 books a year.

But should you read a lot? I find this questionable.

I still remember my primary school teacher loves books a lot. One time, he created a recommended booklist and told us to read as many as we can during the summer vacation, the person who read the most books on the list will win a prize.

I know he’s just trying to encourage us to read, but I don’t quite resonate with that. That leads us to believe that someone who read 30 pages per day will be more knowledgeable than someone who read ten pages three times a week.

Just like most things in life, we should focus on quality instead of quantity. I firmly believe reading too much isn’t the best approach to upskill, and in some cases, it can be counterproductive.
